Final Blog!

Which in class writing was your favorite? Why?
Stressed out and conflicted. I like this writing because it was done in different points of view.

Which in class writing was your least favorite? Why?
Lucky 25. You had to pick a number between 1 and 100. It doesn’t matter what number you pick, just pick a number.

Review all your writing chronologically (earliest to latest). List three interesting observations or changes in your writing. Which are the most profound (obvious and important)? Why?
Stressed out and conflicted, Passionate about things, and I believe. These three writings were most profound because they are thngs I hold close to heart.

If you could change anything about your writing this semester what would it be? Why?
I wouldn’t change any of my writing. My writing is my own thoughts and I wouldn’t change them no matter what.

What did you like best about this course?
The thing I liked most about this course is having to write about interesting prompts.

What did you like least about this course?
I didn’t like having just a week to read the book assigned for the course; The Heart and the Fist.

What would you have done differently this semester if you could have a do-over?
I don’t think I would do anything differently for the course.

What did learn about yourself as a student, a thinker, a writer this semester?
As a student, I learned how to type without hitting th backspace button on the key board. As a thinker, I learned that I have to put a lot of thought into papers I write. As a writer, I learned that writing is not always easy, you still have to give time to write what you want.

What could I, Ms. A., have done differently to improve the course?
To improve the class, you could probably give the class at least two to three weeks to read the assigned book.

You begin this course with an engagement and participation score of an A.  Attendance, participation in activities and group work help you to maintain this grade.  Evaluate yourself and assign yourself a grade for the in class portion of this course.  Don’t forget the reasoning behind your self-assigned grade.

If I could give myself a grade for this course, I would probably give myself an A. I would give myself an A because I work hard  and turn in my assignments in on time.

What's in the way?

WHAT’S IN THE WAY?
I’m looking forward to receiving my first paycheck. It will come a day after Valentine’s Day. However, two weeks are in the way. I wish it was already here. Im just going to have to wait it out though. Two more weeks of work and it’s a better paycheck, right?

When I do get my paycheck, I’m going to go shopping at Battlefield Mall. I’ll shop in  JCPenny, CJ Banks, Dillard’s, Hot topic, and Earthbound.  I’m also going to Barnes and Noble to buy books I like.

what if?

What if…
I wasn’t afraid of arachnids.
2. I had changed my major to art.
I had never done my homework.
1. I never studied for tests.
I never took Geography class.

What if I never studied for tests.
If I never studied for tests, I probably wouldn’t be here, in College. When we  don’t study for tests, we fail them. If you fail too many, you could get held back in school and you will have to repeat the material.
Studying for tests is a majpr part of education. For example, if a final was coming up, you should refer to notes you’ve written or review and study past quizzes. By studying them, you can  do a good job n the final and pass. Studying helps boosts our grade point average up and helps us to pass clases so we can go to a new level of education and learn new things.

What if I had changed my major to art.
If I had changed my major to art, I could paint a variety of things. However, art does not involve cooking. Art is something you create out of your head from your own ideas. If you wanted to, you could explore every surface of the world through paintings.

Art can help you express yourself. For instance, if you feel down in the dumps, you could use blue or gray and paint something sad. If you’re feeling mad, use black or red. If you feel happy, use yellow, orange, or pink.

I beleive!

I BELIEVE DRINKING WATER IS HEALTHY AND UNHEALTHY

Water is essential to the human’s body survival. A person can live for about a month without food , but  only a week without water.  Even though your body is made up of roughly 60  percent water, you should still drink it. Drinking water is healthy for you but it can also be unhealthy for you. It helps with weight loss, a healthy heart, and boosts energy. It also helps with headache cure, cancer risks, and kidneys.
Sometimes we think we are hungry, but, in reality, we are thirsty. Water is the best tool for weight loss because of two reasons. For one it replaces those high-calorie beverages like soda or juice and alcohol with a drink that does not have any calories in it. And two, it is a great appetite suppressant. Food with high water content tends to look larger, its higher volume requires more chewing, and it is absorbed more slowly by the body , which helps you feel full resulting in consuming less calories (Zelman). Water has no calories, no carbs and no sugar, so drink plenty to help with weight loss regimen.
Water serves as the body’s transportation system. Drinking a decent amount of water can lower your risk of having a heart attack. In the May 1, 2002 American Journal of Epidemiology a six-year study found that those who drink more than five glasses of water a day were forty-one percent less likely to die from a heart attack during that period opposed to those who drank less than two glass a day (White).
Drinking an inadequate amount of water leads to dehydration. Being dehydrated can drain your energy from your body and make you tired- even if it is as little as one or two percent of our body weight. When your muscle cells do not have enough adequate fluids, they do not work as well and  our performance can suffer. For example, sweating at the gym causes the muscles to lose water which results in muscle fatigue. The American College of Sports recommends that people drink approximately seventeen ounces of water about two hours before exercise. During exercise, they recommend people start drinking fluids early, and drink at regular intervals to replenish the fluids that were lost while sweating (Schwecherl).
Headaches are a side effect, or symptom, of dehydration. Often when we have a headache, it is simply a matter of  not drinking enough water. So, next time a headache appears, drinking water is is always helpful, it can prevent or alleviate the pain (Jenkins).
Drinking water can also help prevent cancer risks. Studies show that drinking water help reduce the risk of colon cancer by forty-five percent. bladder cancer by fifty percent, and can potentially reduce the risk of breast cancer as well.
Although drinking water is healthy, it is also unhealthy. The kidneys control the amount of water, salts, and other solutes we put into our bodies. They process two hundred quarts of blood daily. Kidneys need enough fluids to clear away what we do not need in the body, so, naturally, drinking water helps.
However, drinking too much water, or overhydration, can endanger your life. How much is too much? Normally, on a daily basis, men should consume thirteen cups of water and women should consume nine. So, anything above the daily basis is harmful (Berge, Philip, Scott, Sheps). When we drink too much water in a short amount of time, the kidneys can not flush it out in time and the blood becomes water logged. So, drinking water is healthy, but it can also be unhealthy.
Drinking excessive amounts can also lead to loss of sleep as people have to get up in the night to go to the toilet (Borland). There are many types of water; bottled, well, city and distilled.
Bottled water may seem healthy but is it? It doesn’t matter if there’s a picture of a mountain on the front. the water inside is not natural.; it’s filtered, meaning it removes necessary chemicals to maintain a healthy body. Well water is not safe because it is not tested tested daily. Because of this reason, consumers with health conditions are recommended to heat their water to a rolling boil for a minimum of one minute prior to consumption (Leising, McCarthy, Hahn, Dunford, McKernon.) City water contains arsenic, fluoride, and chlorine as well as other harmful substances.
Arsenic is a metal that is very toxic. It is classified as a category one carcinogen, meaning it can definitely cause cancer, according to the International Academy for Research on Cancer. Fluoride is deliberately added to water. Though it helps whiten teeth, it is not natural when it is added. Chlorine, a poisonous gas that is highly irritating to the respiratory organs,is added to water to kill bacteria. If you consume too much chlorine, you could develop tumors in the liver, kidneys, and intestines, which could be fatal(Global Healing Center).
Distilled water is free of dissolved minerals. It has the ability to actively absorb toxic substances from the body and eliminate them.  Consuming distilled water can cause heart beat irregularities and high blood pressure because if the loss of electrolytes ( sodium, potassium, and chloride) and trace minerals like magnesium. Distilled water tends to be acidic and can o ly be recommended as a way of drawing poisons out of the body. The more minerals lost, the greater the risk of osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, hypothyroidism, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure and a long list of degenerative diseases generally associated with premature aging (Airola). So, all in all, drinking water is healthy for you, but it is also unhealthy for you.

SLEEPING

Sleep improves the brain and enhances memory. It increases waste clearance of the brain.Sleep improves preservation as well.It helps your skin look young, as long as you get enough hours of sleep (7.5-9).

CAMPING

Cmping takes place outdoors. You can camp in  the woods, at a campground site. or in your own backyard. For me, I go camping at Baxter Campgrounds. I always take my fishing pole so I can fish when I want to.Camping is a good way to explore the world. There is some stuff that people don't see like small caves in the rock wall right by the cliff that overlooks the lake.

Stressed out and conflicted

Stress is the physical pressure, pull, or other force exerted on one thing by another. It can come at any time. For example you have a test doming up this week and you don't study for it, you could become stressed. f you stress too much there is a possibility that you could have a seizure. Stress can be caused by multiple things, such as tests, homework, and deadlines on essays.

I have a conflict with my tablet's keyboard. It does not want to cooperate with me. I turn it on and it does nothing. I tried almost everything I can to make it work but it just sits there staring at me.

My owner has a problem with me. she tries to make me do things I don't want to do. she turns my power button on but I don't want to work with her. I sit there staring at her.

she sits at her computer table in her room, trying to fix her tablet's keyboard. She keeps turning it on and off, but nothing works. She tries leaving it off for an hour and turning it on again after the hour is up but still, nothing happens. Her tablet's key board just stares at her.
